Yup, that's what  we were planning, but there are  a few problems with
this:

1) the compression is  in htword which is a  shared library.  the dump
program  (db_dump)   and  the  load  program   (db_load)  will  change
compression versions if you  change the compression.  A solution would
be to keep statically linked version of these 2 programs...

2) Wer'e planning  to use BIG databases. If  the dumped (uncompressed)
version is 8x bigger ... well it won't fit on disk.

Anyways I think it's not too hard to find a solution for this problem,
it's just that I don't have time  for it right now, there are loads of
other urgent things  waiting. Unless it is really  an urgent need from
users I think this can wait for a few weeks.
