Hi,

First off, a big thanks to Andrew, who has been graciously providing
the DNS, connection and box for htdig.org, including helping out with
a few emergencies! Unfortunately, we're in something of a good
news/bad news situation. The good news is we're getting lots of hits.
That's also the bad news since it's starting to erode the bandwidth
Andrew's company is graciously providing.

I've taken a few preliminary steps to cut down on our impact. The
first is limiting the "phone home" access of users. The default
start_url is, of course, htdig.org, so I edited the robots.txt on
www.htdig.org to exclude access to the mailing list archives. (The
copy on htdig.org itself now uses a slightly different name.)

I also cut the number of anonymous FTP users to 5, down from 10.

Meanwhile, I'm in the process of setting up a mirror with
SourceForge. Right now, there's not much there at
htdig.sourceforge.net. Hopefully we can migrate ftp.htdig.org at the
least. I wouldn't mind migrating the CVS tree, but this might require
us to change our CVSROOT, in which case it's a tough call.

I'll also be setting up a mirror of at least the maindocs pages at
htdig.sourceforge.net.

I hope no one minds if I put a SourceForge logo in the footer of the mainpage?

-Geoff
