That's my opinion too. I would have liked it to be more obvious
(configure mistake) which is apparently not the case. Could you try
with to configure with --disable-bigfile ? I've added usage of bigfile
on linux, the most remarkable change in configuration from the stock
distribution. I'll disable this feature for the powerpc linux anyway.
