I have installed the htdig-3.2.0b3-061800 snapshot of htdig (the stable
version was
giving me problems) and while it creates the database files OK htsearch
seems much
much slower than the previous version.
I compiled it on RedHat Linux 6.2 using gcc. The machine is quite fast
(dual Pentium III 733's). The database files look like this:
-rw-r--r-- 1 erl erl 13451264 Jul 28 16:54 db.words.db
-rw-r----- 1 erl erl 16384 Jul 28 16:55
db.words.db_weakcmpr
-rw-r--r-- 1 erl erl 21422080 Jul 28 16:55 db.excerpts
-rw-r--r-- 1 erl erl 2629632 Jul 28 16:55 db.docs.index
-rw-r--r-- 1 erl erl 5341184 Jul 28 16:55 db.docdb
I understand that this version does more "on the fly". Perhaps this is
the problem. Can I diable this feature?
Thanks, A. Lewenberg
