The index in the /phtml/ directory is the first document to be retrieved: 
it's the start URL, and when you ask for the [..]/phtml/ document, the 
server gives back the default directory document (index.htm, default.htm, 
or whatever, depending on your HTTP server configuration ...).

Are these documents indexed by htdig? Are these documents linked together? 
If yes, you could use one of them as start_url or use this configuration 
and limiting the search domain to the p0 and r0 documents with the 
'restrict' attribute of htsearch.

I don't think you need a patch. Anyway, which version of ht://Dig are you
