If you download the file with a Wintendo browser, maybe
file is corrupted because the MIME type returned by the
htdig server is wrong (text/plain ?) and the browser is
trying to save it as valid text file (with CR/LF for eol)
workaround: use Unix for download or use another browser
in windaube or try rightclick "save link as" ...
