[htdig] Special characters

Hello,

I have installed htdig 3.1.3 on solaris 7.0 running apache webserver. I can't  make 
htdig index words with special characters (� � � ). Our website contains many 
norwegian, french, russian, german special characters. Any suggestions on how I can 
solve this?
