See http://www.htdig.org/FAQ.html#q5.9 about this.  The BSD sort doesn't
like the -T option that htmerge uses to pass the TMPDIR setting to sort.
If your sort can handle TMPDIR itself, but doesn't use -T for this
purpose, then you'll need to change the code in htmerge/words.cc not to
pass the -T option to sort.  If there's no way to specify where your sort
program puts its temporary files, you may want to try installing GNU sort
somewhere, and changing the SORT_PROG definitions in htmerge/Makefile
to use it.
