Did you add these lines to the script that runs Apache, as well as to
the rundig script?
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
The other option might be to add -R/usr/local/lib to LIBDIRS in
Makefile.config, and recompile htsearch.
