I think you'll need to double up all the backslashes in these template
files. When htsearch does template variable expansion, it will take any
$var, $(var) or ${var} construction as a template variable reference,
and
any \$ or \<any-character> as that character literally. As a result of
this, bare backslashes get swallowed up, so you have to double them up
so that one of them goes through literally.
