I haven't compiled it for SCO 5.0.4, but there are two questions that would
help solve your problems:
1) What version of make are you using (SCO make? GNU make? Try "make -v")
2) What exactly is the message from make? Does it say what file has an error?
What do you have as line 31 in that file?
(The makefiles I'm looking at, line 31 is: CVS */CVS */*/CVS */*/*/CVS,
which looks pretty harmless.)
