you could add a temporary swap file. I'm not real familiar with
BSDI, but as an example on a Solaris machine:
mkfile 1000m temp_swap_file
add a line to vfstab:
/path/to/temp_swap_file swap swap rw 0 0
and then:
swapon -a
In this manner you can create swap files instead of swap partitions,
so you don't have to redo your disk layout.
