False.  HTML::Template's parser hasn't been line-oriented for several
versions.  As far as HTML::Template is concerned a new-line is just
another byte of text to be ignored.

I don't believe I would take such a patch, but you are welcome to make one
anyway!  Why not build it as a filter inside a module and see if other
people use it?  If people really are wild about magic-newline-removal then
we can talk about possibly faster implementations.
