Yes, I remember that. One way of solving it would be to use a scope resolver (loop1.var, loop1.loop2.var). I use a search engine called namazu (http://www.namazu.org/) that does not require a database. It does have special features for searching through mail folders/archives. I believe it can be used in this case if the archives are stored as separate files on disk.
