I share my home directory between various systems using git. Some of
those systems run latest Debian unstable, with the new htop that uses
~/.config/htop/htoprc; some of them run Debian stable, with the previous
htop that uses ~/.htoprc. The old version will happily work through a
symlink .htoprc -> .config/htop/htoprc, which would let me keep my home
directory compatible with both versions; however, the new version
blindly removes ~/.htoprc after migrating it, even if it's a symlink to
the new location.

Please don't migrate ~/.htoprc to ~/.config/htop/htoprc when the latter
already exists, and please only delete ~/.htoprc if it refers to a
regular file.

Thanks,
Josh Triplett
