Ok, I've got some of this figured out. Turns out that I wasn't digesting the HttpEntity properly, so I wasn't seeing the content. After figuring out how to use the EntityUtils class, I could see what the issue was: that the resource /ews/Exchange.asmx was off limits, and that a redirect is necessary. Here are the headers again:
