Yuv, it actually DOES something, so graying it out is not an option.
Just in your case no images ended up being added.

A status message: "no images could be found" would be nice.

  Add time-series... button does not work on non-empty project

Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI:

Bug description:
  "Add time-series of images" button on Images tab does not do anything when 
there are images in the project.

Open a new project, add some images to it, go to Images, click "Add time-series 
of images" -- there is ~1 second delay and nothing happens.

If there are no images in the project, an Add images file dialog comes up. 
Although it is not obvious what it is supposed to do, it seems to work -- after 
one image is selected, it adds other images from the same directory with 
similar time stamps.

Discovered on SVN2955 on WinXP.
