The crop position can help to position a partial panorama on the correct position on the panosphere. The canvas size is also used by the blender to decide if to blend about the 360 deg border or not. Your patch does destroy these information and will therefore break something which you did not consider in your first raw shoot. This code is working and have been tested and refined in more than 20 years.
