Bart, it is hard to say what the problem is. I've just installed SP2 with no change. On my laptop, DEP is closing Hugin with event name BEX (buffer overflow exception). That is what is triggering DEP to close the program.
Does your laptop have DEP installed? If so, are you able to create an exception for Hugin? MS says installers should be created using Visual Studio 8 to be compatible with DEP.
