You are right. this is an interesting problem. What slightly
complicates the task which looks so straightforward initially is that
the pto file doesn't contain information about the 'distance' of a
control point pair, only the points' coordinates in image coordinates.
So there would have to be an additional stage of remapping the CP
coordinates to panorama coordinates and so gaining the distance. There
is a tool for doing just that (pano_trafo), so I'll have a look if I
can come up with something to do the trick!
