hello. recently i got idea of scanning flat surfaces,
like walls using i.e. infrared thermal sensor.

cpfind+gimp seem to be nice tools to be used to generate output,
goal is to use camera to orient sensor in 2d space and tell gimp
to put sensor value as brush dot at the coords.

basically just the camera alone could be used like mouse - cpfind
would find how much camera got moved and output would be produced in XY
format (and perhaps with lens data also tilt data could be extracted)

my question is - did anyone tried this before me? am i reinventing the
wheel? if yes - any links to previous projects like this?
