This actually happens here also, I just tried. No idea why.

OTOH I use 16 bit images and that won't work as a jpg. And later retouching in an image editor just doesn't make sense when your working file degrades every time you save. Which will happen with a jpg.

I usually prefer to have jpg only as the very last step prior to output to web / print...
