Answering myself on this one. Commenting out following in *utils.cpp* stops 
align_image_stack from opening and closing on every process when --gpu is 
enabled
*//glutInit(argcp, argv);*

Did a few tests, output was working and gpu processing did what it was 
suppose to do. Consider it a blind testfix for my particular usage area as 
I don´t know if it breaks other processes in the program. Anyway,. Only 
documenting this stuff. Not claiming I solved any issues for anybody else 
than me and my mac friends ;).
