Hi,

I should start with the standard caveat that I hope this is the right place
to post this. The web site refers to questions and bugs, but not to
'feedback'. I'm sure someone can point me in the right direction.

In any case, I just wanted to point out that I have just downloaded the
February 2000 archive of Hugs98 to my BeOS R4.5.2 x86 machine, and it
compiles and runs just fine. I am new to Hugs, so I have not been able to
'run it through its paces', but the compile comes off without any errors or
warnings, and running the sample "say" program as indicated in the
installation instruction works wonderfully.

This may seem like a foregone conclusion to many, but in actuality, a lot of
programs targeted for unix systems does not actually compile and run properly
under BeOS.

Perhaps someone in authority to do so could post up a link to BeWare (http://
www.be.com/software/beware/) and BeBits (http://www.bebits.com/) with links
back to the Hugs page and/or archives. These are the widely respected
distribution points for BeOS software, and as such, a link on them would
effectively constitute an announcement of availability of Hugs on the BeOS
platform. Many of the BeOS news sites track and post any new entries to
these sites. Note that BeOS runs on x86 and PPC hardware, and I do not have
a BeOS-ready PPC system to try it on, so I can't guarantee that it also works
on that side of things. (They use a different compiler -- the metrowerks
mwcc instead of gcc.)

Anyway, I hope this was of help. :) Now I'm off to start reading the
documentation!
