No way Linda -esp @17 light years! but this link I chased http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_wave#Gravitational_wave_detectors is enough to put anyone off thinking about gravitational waves. They are 'appartently' extremely hard to manufacture. Like- impossible ,according to the physicists who know about these things. I think I've just given up on that one !
