Some stats please SENSITIVE. Whereabouts are you, your age, sex? <<<<
most likely F from the crying bit. Though I sympathise completely, and
yes it can drive one insane, I've not yet cried over it, stuck things
in my ears, pillow over the head, banged aforementioned head against
wall etc. You say " Well, the moment I shut off my tv the hum took
over.... " Yup , that's it, feels like it's coming from all around
you, then at and angle, from the floor, the walls, sometimes loud to
the point of feeling it, then sometimes just ticking over in the
background. Is it more intense during wet weather where you are? Or do
the weather conditions make no difference? From your description
you're picking up the WWW Hum, it's everywhere, and sorry, apart from
creating some background noise to mask it, you're stuck with it, until
whoever is responsible switches it off. It's an externally induced
form LF of tinnitus* and some of us, actually countless loads of us,
have the disability of picking it up. Seems it's either the nerve
between the ear mechanism and the brain or the brain itself that's the
receiver. Normal acoustic sound hitting the ear drum appears to
override The Hum. Here in the UK it's been varying between intense to
low for the last week or so. 9 on The Hum scale to say about 2,
presently, about 2. Try a detox, that might help you, no caffeine,
alcohol, etc, see what happens.

* I bit my tongue when writing that, sometimes I feel I was a bit
harsh, but it was the attitude you know, and the message was not in
itself incorrect except that it's from the outside, not in.
