I must admit I found the OP interesting, but quite hard going even though written in user friendly terms. The point Patty makes is adequately made- the scientists should be working for Us [who pay], not the system, guaranteeing their pensions- by conniving. First local democracy is gone, now nationhood is swallowed by EU cons etc- and the new mantra is 'Globalism' as the co factor for survival under any means. [Hum is Global-Mmnnnn} All these mechanisms move the establishment further and further away from the man in the street and any meaningful control. IMO this hum issue only serves to highlight the extreme democratic discrepancy between the 'People who Pay' and the spin meisters running the show, supposedly on our behalf. A system [worldwide] that colludes with torture and extreme rendition etc is not going to lose sleep over a few/many lost nights sleep due to hum sufferers.
