Snoring is irritating partly due to its rasping nature- very sharp
wavefronts [or edges] as in a triangular waveform could have the same
effect as a finger snap. This effect happens when I snap my fingers close
to my ear- the hum stops for a short while.
You may be getting multiple events like this which suppresses hum
incrementally. One up for the snorer -for a change.
Sadly , the Hum nuisance is not pursued coherently in the UK , though
occasional samples get done.
