John, I am somewhat skeptical of the instrument you use to make your measurements. It would be nice to see some control experiments performed. One that immediately comes to mind is a second instrument. Measurements can be correlated between the 2 instruments with readings taken simultaneously to verify that the measurements are attributable to the same external source.
