A static or slowly varying magnetic field cannot be blocked. If you take a look at my most recent paper I explain how the Hum arises as a combination of PC1 PULSATIONS of magnetic field mixing with anthropogenic source signals FOR EXAMPLE FROM POWER SYSTEMS. I ave taken every en devour to make sure my explanations fit the early work on the Hum as well as the most recent but please understand that measuring equipment in the early days was not as sophisticated as what is available today.
