Over the past few weeks I have been making observations of the Hum signal,
in particular the period between sunset and full darkness.

During this period the signal changes from indistinct and erratic to a
strong clear signal toward midnight and the early hours, the change is
quite dramatic.

This reminds me strongly of times spent in my youth listening to distant
radio stations which exhibit exactly the same qualities.

I am not saying that the Hum is caused by radio waves but it is clear that
the ionosphere is directly connected to the Hum and a study of the daily
changing D,E and F layers would bring a clearing understanding of what is
taking place.
