I am amazed the energy levels increase by only 7% max.

I would have thought the amplification of a volume (room) would increase it
a lot more, compaired to outside.

Even a room with double glazing rather than single glazing increse the hum
'sound'

As for myself, I cannot hear the hum outside at all, and only hear it
indoors when the hum is in operation.

Also the amplification intensity increases dependant on the shape (volume)
of the room, for example a large rooms intensity is lower than a long
narrow low corridor, which is worse.
