I saw this in the "rm1x book" faq/info document. I found it very useful,
but this was one of my questions and I don't know that I understand the
answer and was hoping someone could elaborate:

Q: When I copy a section and edit the copy, why do the edits affect the
original section?

A: When you copy a pattern to a different section, you are just copying the
phrase allocations to that section. You are not copying the actual phrase
data, so if you then tried to overdub that track you'd change the phrase in
the original section as well because both sections are using the same
phrase.
In atch mode you can edit the new pattern to use different phrases on
different tracks but if you want different notes, you need to copy the
phrase
then edit it.

Say I am using Style U01 and I have a section I like that I have created,
section A. I want to copy it to B and C to make some changes to the pattern
with effects, or even a change in voices for some of the tracks to use in
the song. I make B sound just great as a second version of A, but when I
play A it's the same.... argh! :-) I understand the answer up until "In
atch mode..." what is atch mode? And, if I can find this mode, it will be
easy to figure out how to make the new B section use "different phrases on
different tracks"?

Thanks for any info. I think this is why I took a 2 month break for this
gear... The above and the fact that every time I press REC on the RM1x it
is resetting the voice I had all nicely setup on my AN1x! :-) But, I just
read a tip about that too and hope I can resolve it - it's maddening! :-)

Mike
