The RM1x can be set to change voices every time a new phrase(pattern,
basically) is selected or everytime a new style(song, basically) is
selected. If you set it to change voices on phrase and you have external
gear that has drop outs or latency with voice changes (a la A3000), there
will be drop outs everytime you change patterns, where if you set to style
there will be much fewer drop outs as you change styles much less often. The
catch is that if you set it to style you are stuck using the same 16 voices
for all 16 patterns in the style. I am using the RM1x to control
A3000/Virus/Proteus2000 and what I do is set the voices per phrase, but
always use the same program on the A3000 for an entire style, as long as
there is no *change* in the program on the A3000 there are no drop outs,
even though it probably receives a prog change message everytime I switch
patterns (It must ignore them if it's already using that program), none of
my other gear seems to have any switching drop outs. I really don't use the
internal sounds much, so I don't know if this affects them as well.
