Hi there

I've been looking at getting the RM1x for a while,
but I've found an ASQ 10 for sale in mint condition -
has anyone used or owned both of these machines
and can say which is the best to get? I'm wanting
to move from a software seq (cakewalk) to hardware
- the same old story of being sick of looking at a pc
screen all day at work etc etc. Looking to use it
both for composition and live use, so muting and
pattern play are just as important as linear (for
the type of music it'll be used for). I don't really
need another sound module so its really the sequencing
capability of the RM1x I'm looking at.

The advantages/disadvantages seem to be:

RM1x:
Pros -
* Nice and well laid out interface
* pattern / pattern chain mode
* lots of options, play effects etc in job mode

Cons -
* only 1 midi out
* seems quite expensive here in NZ - roughly US$1200 (not joking - but I'm
still looking around)
* the other few bugs & gripes that people have
expressed on the list

ASQ 10:
Pros -
* Built like a tank
* Nice quantisation options
* Track muting / pattern & linear sequencing
* 4 midi outs / 2 midi ins
* Cost seems cheap = roughly US$500

Cons -
* Old machine with no free support now
* ???? - don't know many others - no one seems to know much about it

Anyone else have any thoughts on the relative merits
of either? Any useful ASQ 10/RM1x net resources to help
decide either way? I know that the RM1x is a reliable
safe choice here (if I can get one more reasonably priced!!)
but the few things I've found on the net about the ASQ10
show that its highly regarded and kind of a rarity (?)

Thanks

Scott
