* From [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I know the following is long, but please grab a cup of coffee and read...this
could be a beautiful thing.

I have this wierd obsession, I'm totally obsessed with people's
kitlists.....from the pro power gear lists...all the way down to the bedroom
studio with nothing more than a cheap sampler....and everything in between.
The first thing I do when I buy Keyboard Mag is scan through for the reader
studio of the month, wierd I know but what can you do. I just like seeing
what peoples choices are, what strange combinations they have, any rare stuff
they have...and indeed how they lay their studios out.

So intrigued and interested am I in the whole thing that I'm devoting a large
part of my new Website to the topic. And thus it was "StudioVille" was born.

StudioVille will basically comprise of two sections,

1) Pro Setups. (I have collected a lot of the kitlists of the artists who
wire and inspire, in some cases even info from interviews with them about how
they use specific pieces of equipment to make their sounds\ their opinions on
certin gear).

2) Amateur Setups.
This is where you all come in. I'm sure the vast majority of you, like me,
take great pride in their setup. The experience of building the right
combination to let you express the inner sounds, the joy of learning a new
piece of kit that you love the minute you purchase it...the woes of realizing
you just blew an impulse credit card purchase on something that will be
gathering dust very soon. There's a lot of personal history in between all
those boards, chips, keys and the likes. Here's a chance to share
that...well...sort of.

The Logistics.

1) SECURITY
Straight of the bat let me tell you that I, more than most, am a security
freak about my stuff. Those dreams I used to have about teeth falling out of
my head have been replaced by dreams of people taking my gear...and the
ensuing 'wake up in a cold sweat' and running to check it's all still there.
Why am I sharing this inane point...well, I just want to assure you that I
want this thing to put 0% risk to any of you of opening your doors to the
wrong viewers. That's why I am suggesting

a) If you present your kit to be a part of StudioVille you don't supply a
State or Country where you reside,
b) You use a pseudonym\web alter ego....complete anonymity
c) If you include an Email to be posted (I'm going to leave it free to you as
to whether you want to post an Email address for people to ask you questions
on your kit) then please create something non intuitive to your identity on
hotmail, freemail, yahoo etc.
If you correspond with me in with your more common Email I absolutely
guarantee you that I, and I alone will be the only one with the ability to
corrolate the studio with the Email address, and it will never move outside
our communication. You have my solemn word on this.

Without any specific instruction to do so, I 'will not' post any contact
Email address of any sort on your studio area.

2) WHAT YOU SEND and WHERE
a) Picture
Unless I get express written permition form some of the publications where I
gathered the pro kitlists I will only be able to post a text list of their
setups ( if that's the case I'll just include some general pictures of the
gear in places). For the home studios I really want people to send me a gif
or jpeg shot of their setup (if you want to be in the picture feel free, but
it is absolutely and completely an option). Again, this will be an anonymous
studio as far as the public domain is conserned.

b) A list of your gear in text. If you could Alphabetise that would be great,
it's your call. Two categories.

1) Hardware
Both synths\sampler\drum machine etc etc plus specific PC\MAC harware (if you
use one for musical purposes...and who doesnt). In the latter include specs
like processor speed etc plus any peripherals you use like Jazz disk etc etc.
Oh, and soundcard tyope would be great.

2) Software
Personally I couldn;t care less if you're using legit or warez...but I will
post the list of your software as legit whether you specify it to be a ware
or not...outta respect for the manufacturers

c) Four Comments
    i) Favourite piece of gear that you own and why
ii) Worst mistake you ever made buying gear (if any)
iii) Next Addition to your studio
iv)The style of music you produce

Optional Extra
          v) General comment area on your studio, uses, tips, likes dislikes,
wishlist, funny stories etc....anything and everything extra you want to
express.

Also feel free to supply any links to MP3s you may have posted on the web as
examples of yourself...shameless promotion of your stuff in return for taking
the time to help build studioville is the least you deserver (Note of Warning
though, please be sure to check that none of the links lead to places that
may give more information than you want about who and where you are....if
indeed you are conserned, just an FYI)

WHERE: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

So there you have it. I really hope you'll be a part of this, personally I'v
had some of the greatest web experiences within this realm. From the
complimentary and encouraging posts of lists, to the invaluable user reviews
and tips on using certain synths...all the way to the flame wars and fights
of the Gas Station....the one true bond we all have is the escape from the
often mundane\frustrating\bill paying\boss moaning\redsox losing part of life
in that sanctuary known as "Studio".

Acid

PS PLease, please, please feel free to Email me with comments, suggestions
and anything else you'd like to know or share at the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
address.

PPS. I am sending this out to a few groups and will post a mention on
Sonicstate...if you are a member of some of the same lists as I am and
receive this more than once I apologize.
If you are a member of any other lists and don't see it appear...and you
think the list subscribers are likeminded to this fine list
memberhood..please feel free to forward it on.

Sincerest Respect and peace.
Thanks for your time.
