I've done two live shows so far with the RM1x. We're a three member
band - lots of hands for playing chords and knob tweaking :)

Here's our kit list
Drums
RM1x (also used for bass and some piano)
  TR-707, 606
Main lead synths
  Korg Prophecy
  AN1x
Strings
  Korg Poly-800 (w/MicroVerb for fattening)
Roland JX-8P (w/PG-800 for live sound manipulation)
???
Synthi (somewhat un-musical but crowd pleasing modular analog synth
with cool-looking pin matrix)

We sync everything off of the TR-707, since it provides sync for for the
606. Most of the drums come from the RM1x, with the 707 and 606
carrying us into our less agressive songs. One of the most frustrating
things with the RM1x is that you can't modify patterns on the fly, so
having the old Roland drum machines is nice.

We've done some improvised tracks, with reasonable results. I'll fire
up a drum pattern on the 707/606 and add stuff in on the fly, while my
cohorts shout chord progressions and key changes at each other. Usually
sounds a bit rough at the start, then gets better.

        - Mike.
