problem SOLOing tracks

  I just got my RM1x yesterday.Hurray!
I am unable to solo tracks however.It should work like this:press 
"mute" key,then shift+track to solo that track.When I do this,it just 
mutes the track,as if I wasn't pressing the shift key at all.The shift 
key itself works,as other key combos work fine,ie making values 
increment faster while turning a knob.
   Is this a bug?Am I missing something?
