If you try to understand "pattern" from the manual you will go crazy.
(Read page 35. Laugh.) A style is definitely a collection of 16
sections which have 16 tracks. When talking about a "pattern", there is
a lot of confusion about whether you mean a style, section, track, or
phrase. I think the best bet is just not to use the word "pattern".

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but when I want to bring in crash
with all the drums together,
I switch to a different section, unmute the tracks that I want to start
together (using a mute memory), then switch into the section I want
(quantized to 1 bar). I don't think you can change the quantize option
during play.
