I used song mode for song modes, and pattern mode for improvising over
patterns i've made.

As a live setup I just use my JP 8000 (real light!) and A3K. In the studio
(if you want to call it that, it's more my living room), I have an old Casio
FZ-1 I use mostly as a master keyboard, and a PowerMac with Cubase and
Recycle connected to the outside world with a Midiman interface and a Gina
card.

No, I bought the RM1x mainly to avoid bringing my Mac along to live
performances. In the end I end up using the RM1x for most of my studio work
as well! Mainly just use Cubase now for audio recording.
