Chords

Hiya folks

I've had my RM1X since the weekend, so I'm still a total novice.

Maybe I'm missing something here. But if I'm trying to create a piano rhythm 
track, how do I tell it what chords to use?
I can take one of the built in patterns and tranpose it up or down, but that 
won't change it from a major to a minor or to a seventh chord.

Any suggestions?
