I realised that I already had the correct 1.2.3 boot loader installed.
I installed the following files via the CF card:
bootopie-v0.8.4-ipaq-pxa270.jffs2
zImage-2.6.15-hh2-ipaq-pxa270
homefs.jffs2
All flashing worked. However, when I rebooted (several times now) I get
a black screen with a penguin in the top left hand corner and the
message 'Please wait: booting....' This continues until the batter
runs dry.
Have I used the correct imagaes. I downloaded them from
http://familiar.handhelds.org/releases/v0.8.4/install/download.html
and took the options : stable, v0.8.4, hx4700, Opie.
I admit that I have never tried with Opie. Afore I had GPE.
Any clues?

Dear all,
I decided to reinstall my hx4700 because I messed up the keyboard
configuration (in /etc/inittab) and never managed to get back in.
I only have a WinXP PC that I can use in work. I don't have a *nix
box. I have a USB SD and CF card reader and the right cards.
However, the wiki only shows how to copy the bootldr-1.2.3.rom to the
SD card using dd on *nix.
How does one do this with Windows XP?
Regards, S.
PS. I receive the hx4700 digest only because I have lost my password
to change the settings to receive instant emails (I cannot retrieve
the password because nothing happens when I try), so I would be very
grateful if someone CCs me directly if they reply.
