Thanks for reporting your issue? Could you send (or post) the 'scache.conf' file? scons created it when you built hydrogen, and it should be in the root of the source tree. Another thing to try... rename the ~/.hydrogen folder and try again. (Don't delete it... because if it "fixes" the problem... we'll need to figure out what in ~/.hydrogen was causing the crash.)
