Yes! So the other sketches fill in the details of what those views (or
contexts or modes) would look like. It's assumed that switching contexts
(i.e. switching between each sketch image that I sent) can happen in a
fast an intuitive manner (such as dragging pattern to the editor icon...
and then being immediately in the Sequence Editor context).

These are good points. You are right that the sketches I sent intend to
*exclude* this ability. However, I'm serously thinking about how to do it
without crippling the "netbook" interface.
On a similar note... I haven't quite figured what do with changing window
size. For example, I intended that the "main" widget have *no* scrolling.
Loops and whatnot are limited by your screen and resolution. (Don't know
if could be accomplished... but that's what I was *hoping* to do.) So
then what happens if they go from fullscreen to minimum? Hmmm? I haven't
figured that one out, yet. :-)
