Hi Wolke

About the compile:
I created a new dir and checked out the code there and it compiled right
away :-s
I had been using svn update before without cleaning up i guess ...

About ubuntu ppa:
You are probably right about that, but the fact is that there are a lot of
ubuntu users out there that will benifit a lot from a ppa. Not everyone
knows how to (or wants to) compile their apps from source.
Also note that the ppa that we are currently reffering to is NOT the
kxstudio main ppa (that contains a lot of other audio apps, including
various jackd versions => confusion) but a dedicated H2-only ppa.
That way we can be sure that users dont mess up their system after adding
this PPA to their sw sources and then running a 'update all'
Personally i use a standard ubuntu 10.4 for my work and my music recording
and it's working really well for me (both with my internal soundcard or my
focusrite saffire firewire interface)

grtz

hmm, don't think so. can you post the error messages.

also, i make a clean checkout into a new directory. everything is fine here.
i can build
hydrogen without any problems in this directory. i do this only to test that
i have really
checked-in all new files, which comes with the jack-midi patch. sometimes it
happens that
i forgot simply to check in new files:).

off topic (:
maybe you run into a ppa problem:/. my experience witch kxstudio
ppa|ubuntu|cool audio
stuff at least ends with an clean new debian unstable installation. i go
back to debian
because ubuntu and up to date audio software need to much system
administration. also i
have the feeling that my machine(thinkpad) and my external hardware(rme
multiface) work
really much better under debian unstable. ubuntu really do some curios
things. for example
the pcmcia bus and my nivida card shared the same irq. under debian each
device works
with his own irq. also under ubuntu there was an endless trouble with
alsa-firmware,
alsa-firmeware-loaders, alsa-utils alsa-tools/-gui. it looks that ubuntu
maintainers
forgott to add/compile hdspmixer to the gui packages. also the firmeware
don't match my
card... and so on. and at least after my first contact with kxstudio ppa my
rme card
completly give up:( and output only total silence.
