The production environment for Hypertable is currently Linux, oprofile seems to be adequate for our needs. I personally don't like to sprinkle our code with platform (especially non-production) specific profiling code in the distribution (thus, having to maintain them.)
Feel free to experiment in your own branches. I'm actually quite interested in hearing about your findings.
