I visited with a representative from American Express Financial Planning
recently and although I liked the individual very much, I'm still having an
issue of justifying the $450 - 500 cost and what you get for that amount...

My opinion is that you can probably come up with your own financial plan,
though it will take lots of work, research, dedication, etc. Also, keep in
mind that financial planners who work for companies such as American
Express, Prudential, Fidelity, etc., exist, at least in part, to get you to
purchase their company's products. I'm not saying there is anything wrong
with the company's products, but you need to _consider_ the motives of the
planner in question.
Isn't there a national organization of certified financial planners? Let me
see if I can find their Web site and post it. I'm sure you can get a list of
certified planners in your area (and you'll still have to pay for their
services, but at least they don't work directly for the companies that are
selling the services--you do need to take note of how they are paid,
however).

I am trying to start a new investment club, but don't know which legal
for to organize the club. Should it be a general partnership?,
limited partnership? or a Limited Liability Partnership? Does it
matter if members live in different states, for example I live in
Missouri and I have family that want to join that live in Kansas. If
it is a limited partnership don't you have to have at least one
general partner? That creates a lot risk for one person. For a
partnership do you have to register the name of you club with the
state? What are the fees? etc.
Thanks
Randy

In my new club I have some nephews who are under 18 years old. Can
they legally join the club? Can they sign the partnership agreement?
Do they have to file a tax return for the loss/gain that they receive
through the club?
Thanks
Randy

When making member deposits, if you select the Petty Cash account as the
"Cash Account" of choice the deposit will be made into the Petty Cash
account. The Petty Cash account is entirely seperate from the other
accounts and investments in Club Accounting. Normally it should be used as
a cookie jar for non tax deductable items. As such, there is no way to
transfer funds between the Petty Cash account and the other Cash Accounts in
Club Accounting.

Yes, unfortunately in some cases that is correct. If you bought the same
stock from 4 "vendors" you could combine the total of the shares and cost
and then enter it as one transaction.
