Ada yg menggunakan PLN pada saat normal, lalu di-switch ke battery pada saat PLN mati atau berkurang drastis tegangannya. 2. Ada yg mengubah aliran PLN untuk ke battery (DC) dulu, baru di-convert lagi ke AC, ini lebih baik tapi juga lebih mahal, apalagi kalau yg AC yg dihasilkannya sinewave. Perlu dilihat juga specs. UPS tsb, apakah juga ada fungsi stabilizer, surge & spike protection termasuk anti petir. Stabilizer juga bermacam-macam: elektronik, motor servo & ferro resonant, yg terakhir ini terbaik tapi paling mahal. Ada juga surge arrest/supressor tersendiri yg dapat dipasang sebelum ke stabilizer anda. Harganya kurang lebih 300ribuan, ie. APC, ICA.
