~~~~~~~Forum Diskusi Software dan Internet untuk Kristen-Katolik~~~~~~~ Windows emulator runs 32 OSes at once By David Neal, IT Week ZDNet (UK) July 23, 2001 5:27 AM PT Connectix is shipping a software emulator that will let companies install and then run a number of different operating systems on one PC, without rebooting. The software could have benefits for companies that use a variety of systems, or are considering upgrading operating systems. Virtual PC lets machines running Windows 2000, Windows NT or Windows Me host and run up to 32 different Intel-based operating systems concurrently. The list includes Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 95, Windows NT, Linux and MS-DOS. While Windows Me programs will run under Windows 2000, for example, there are often unforeseen compatibility problems. Virtual PC is designed to avoid these, and also make it possible for a Windows 2000 program to run under Windows Me. Jonathon Garber, chief scientist and founder of Connectix, said Virtual PC would also handle programs created in-house. "If you were using a custom accounting package written in Visual Basic Script for Windows 95 but wanted to move over to Windows 2000 or XP, you can just virtualize that environment," he said. Garber said Virtual PC had been designed to solve a range of issues. He said a company wishing to deploy a new operating system, support customers across multiple systems, or test different network configurations, could do this all from one desktop machine using Virtual PC. Firms mulling a move to a new operating system such as Windows 2000 or NT could benefit from the ability to run it within their existing environment, added Garber. He said, "The move to XP is a one-way street, but using our system you can run it as a guest, and see how it works first." http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2795473,00.html?chkpt=zdnnp1tp02 -- Wie ------ Hemat Bandwith : Hapus pesan yang tidak perlu sebelum reply ------ SUBSCRIBE---> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], Isi/Body: kosong UNSUBSCRIBE---> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], Isi/Body: kosong Moderator: Ronny <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Alex <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Web : http://hub.xc.org/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=i-kan-software
