Peter Wagner When I was a boy back on the farm in the 1930s, we harvested hay with a horse-drawn mowing machine. The 5-foot sickle bar which cut the hay had about twenty triangle-shaped knives on it, each with two cutting edges, and the bar had to be sharpened every morning before going out into the field. It was my job to turn the grindstone while an adult sharpened each cutting edge. It was a hard job for a seven-year old, but it had to be done. The alternative was very simple�no sharp sickle bar, no harvest! As our name implies, Global Harvest Ministries is focused on the harvest. It is imperative that we keep our harvest tools sharp. As we were approaching 2004, we were aware that this year would be a year of significant changes. Then the Lord gave Chuck Pierce a word that it would be a year of doors. The First Quarter of the year would be a time of closing doors, in the Second Quarter we would get new doors in place, in the Third Quarter we would go through these doors, and by the Fourth Quarter we would be in position for a fruitful and productive future. We shut six doors during the First Quarter. Like sharpening the sickle bar, it was not an easy task. Each shut door felt to us like some of the steel was being ground off the edges of our knives, but the result was a tool fit for reaping abundant harvest. We started by selling the bulk of Wagner Publications to Regal Books. We have kept a sliver of the company for now as a mechanism to publish an occasional title when necessary. Then we sold the Arsenal Bookstore to two members of our team, Brad Herman and Chad Chmelar, who have turned it into a for-profit company. The third door was to revisit the vision for starting Real Life Academy as a school for twenty-somethings. Circumstances had changed and we felt we were no longer able to push this ahead. The fourth was discontinuing the New Apostolic Roundtable which I convened every year in order to give more time to other apostolic networks that I had begun to lead. The fifth door was transferring Doris� and my membership from New Life Church to Springs Harvest. We are grateful to the Lord for the eight productive years with New Life Church, but Springs Harvest Fellowship, under the leadership of Dutch Sheets, is clearly the base we now need for our role in helping to reap the harvest over the next ten years. Ted Haggard has aligned with the National Association of Evangelicals, which is where we were in the past, but Dutch Sheets has been given a vital role in promoting the kind of strategic prophetic intercession which we feel is our assignment for the harvest of the future. Finally the sixth door was to move away from the idea that we once had about buying land and building a new facility for Global Harvest and Wagner Leadership Institute. This was not a sudden decision, but now we are actively exploring other options for securing new facilities. True to Chuck�s prophecy, as I write this in the Second Quarter we are seeing new doors form. Some have to do with financing, some have to do with workplace ministry, some have to do with ministry facilities, some have to do with social transformation. We may not even be through closing doors. All this necessarily remains vague at the moment, but stay tuned, because when the new doors open, we will be going through! The grindstone is turning. Global Harvest will be a sharp tool to move into the field for abundant harvest. As you can imagine, we are more excited for the future than we have ever been! Olympics Prayer Request THE OLYMPICS BEGIN IN ATHENS, GREECE ON AUGUST 13. With the attention of the whole world focused on Greece this summer we would suggest the following prayer points: Ask the Lord for His continued protection now and during the Olympic Games. Pray for protection against any form of terrorism. Ask that God would uncover any hidden plans of the enemy. Pray for the body of believers in Greece. Ask the Lord to pour out His spirit on them and to lead them as they move forward. Intercede for the outreaches which will be planned during the games. Ask the Lord to bless these outreaches and bring in many souls. Finally, ask the Lord to bring the whole nation of Greece to an awareness of Jesus Christ and His love. Just join us on August 14!      LOOKING AHEAD TO ITALY! by Marty Cassady Many of you are going to want to begin making plans to be part of our final international event planned in conjunction with the 40/70 Window nations. This event will be held in Rome and Puzzuoli, Italy on September 1-3, 2005. We will begin in Rome on Thursday, September 1, 2005 with a teaching and training day that will focus on spiritual warfare. Friday, September 2 should prove to be an incredible time as we gather together to travel south from Rome to the amphitheater in Puzzuoli. It was here in this small fishing village of Puzzuoli (Puteoli), located eight miles west of Naples, that Paul first came ashore in Italy. The village today is much the same as it was in Paul�s time. See Acts 28:13. Just outside the village of Puzzuoli we will come together in an ancient amphitheater that was used as one of the places of martyrdom for many of the early Christians. We visited this amphitheater several years ago and this is one place you will not want to miss.
